High hopes were in place leading up to Clean Up Days at Roxbury this year. Record numbers of cabin owners and friends of the camp were scheduled to be here for the two days of time dedicated to making ready the camp for ministry. With so many moving parts, more than 100 structures, and a small staff, all the help on clean up days is not only appreciated but essential.
In addition to making cabins ready for ministry groups to use, the team was able to restock the supply of firewood, clean & ready the Tabernacle, put a roof on the recently constructed outdoor grilling station, do mulching and planting in the beds surrounding the office, Byers Conference Center and Hawbaker Legacy Retreat Center and work on repairing some of the damage to picnic tables. Windows were washed, dorms were cleaned out, and the leaves that have been hanging around since last Fall were removed. The violent wind of the past month had brought down many branches and sticks, which were picked up as well.
Although much was done to ready the camp for our first large groups of the year (coming this weekend) there is still some cleaning that we will be working on as we have time this Spring.
