Lessons in History
Postponed to May 2021!
Take a walk into history and come back wiser for it
Step away from today for a few days and look back at what was one of our country’s most broken and divisive times. It also happens to be one of our country’s greatest times of spiritual revival. God uses all things for His good and even the Civil War holds lessons and hope for His people.
At the Young at Heart retreat this year, we will look back into history and latch on to lessons God has for our lives today! What an amazing God we serve! Join us for a three day retreat that will include:
- Two nights at the Byers Conference Center
- Five great meals including a picnic lunch on the battlefield and a 1860s themed dinner where you will eat amidst those in the struggle for Union
- Lessons and campfire talks born out of the lessons from the Battle of Gettysburg
- A special day at the Gettysburg National Military Park where you will see a video to prepare you for a two-hour bus tour of the battlefield and witness the wonder of perseverance that was Pickett’s Charge through the Cyclorama presentation.
This promises to be a time away of reflection, enjoyment, and renewal both physical and spiritual. There is room for about 40 on this retreat, so please sign up early and invite your friends to do so also.
Sharing & Making new friends
At Roxbury Camp’s first Young at Heart Retreat in 2019 the 20 attendees took time for teaching, adventuring, fellowship and fun. The group talked about legacy and gratitude throughout the three day event. After a busy Senior Day, attendees relaxed while sharing meals, crafting, a trip to Lake Tobias Wildlife Park, teaching times, and a time machine dinner that brought them back to 1958! All involved loved the intimacy of the group and the time to spend focused on God’s word and time with God’s people. Plans are in preparation for next year’s retreat, so check back to this space for updates.
